Your Weight Loss Plan – Make Diets Work For You

Starting to work on your weight loss plan is not always an easy thing to get going. Lots of individuals don’t even know where to begin because there are tons of different programs and weight loss books available to choose from, and several are giving out information that isn’t really that good about what works best. They do this because their only interest is to make money off of you instead of giving you the correct information that will actually help you lose weight.

To begin with, the very first thing you need to do before starting any weight loss or exercise program is to talk to a health care practitioner that you are comfortable with. They should know what your health allows you to do as far as losing weight safely and what you need to focus on. Also, you should find out what your weight is, and what your Body Mass Index is or your BMI for short. This important number is calculated on your height and weight that tells you what kind of weight category your body is in.

The BMI calculator is a superb tool for diet and exercise plan development, because you will know how much you should weigh based on how tall you are. Be warned, anything over 25 on the BMI scale is considered overweight, and 31 or higher is considered, you guessed it, obese. As the numbers get higher on this scale, the risks to your health do too. For instance, if your BMI index is above 40, you are technically considered severely or morbidly obese. You would be be surprised to find out how many people fall into this category. A 25 year old woman that is 5’5” and weighs 175 pounds is considered overweight, and if you added just a few pounds shen would be obese.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s discussion on more about obesity.
