Raw food diet options are almost endless. Everyone seems to have the next big thing in raw diets, and it’s hard to believe everything that you read when there is such different information out there. Some people say that these diets lead to severe under-nourishment, while others will say that they’re the best way to optimal health and a happy body.

The truth of the matter lies somewhere in the middle, depending on what extreme you go to with the diet. Man can survive on fruit and vegetables alone, but had better be some kind very good sources of protein in the diet or some other protein source, along with some fat, to keep your body healthy.

What many people don’t realize however is that many vegetables contain lots of protein. Beans, broccoli, spinach, and some other vegetables actually contain more protein as a percentage of calories than does beef or chicken. So the next time some anti-vegetarian asks you where you get your protein, tell them spinach has more protein than beef. You can also ask them where they suppose cows get protein when all they eat is grass?

With so many variations on the raw food diet, everyone chooses their own path. Some people will eat meals complete with vegetables, and raw potatoes, while others will stick to fruits, vegetables, and proteins that are easier to eat raw like beans. All beans however must be soaked so they soften up and some beans such as kidney beans, must be cooked because thy will make you ill if eaten raw.

Come back later for more info on eating a raw food diet.
